Foundation First Horsemanship

Through my varied background I have explored many different styles and disciplines and they have all led me back to a simple fact: A horse can only be as good as its foundation and it’s humans ability to communicate what they want affectively.

I take the time to work with my clients to find and fill in any missing links for themselves and their horses which gives them the freedom to explore whatever discipline they enjoy with tools that can be adapted to any situation.

At a young age, I started working along side my family, guiding rides into the backcountry of the Sierra Nevada and I have been watching people and horses interact ever since.

My experience extends from the show ring, and fox hunting,
to colt starting, cowboying and back country guiding. I have worked extensively throughout the western United States
as well as internationally, in New Zealand and Argentina.

My broad scope of experience gives me a unique collection of tools and techniques that help both horse and rider develop a better connection and understanding.

A Few Kind Words From People I Have Worked With.

Experience

Equestrian Tourism

I learned to ride on the backcountry trails of the Eastern High Sierras, teaching people and schooling horses were both skills that developed out of necessity and grew into a passion.

Over the years the country that the trails run through has changed but my love for seeing new ground on the back of a good horse has not, it is even better if I can share it with like-minded humans.

Ranching

Moving to the ranching community of southeastern Colorado in high school, I had the beautiful experience of spending a lot of time working with people that still rely on horses to make a living. The practices that make this partnership most affective have always fascinated me and led me to the study of traditional vaquero style training.

Other Experience

My love of horses and new experiences has taken me on a journey and along the way I have met many incredible people and have worked with some incredible horses in a wide variety of situations. To this day there is nothing I am not interested in trying at least once and the joy of knowing something new is around the corner keeps me exploring.
